I started learning the Clarinet
when I was 10. Took Grade 5 the same year (and passed with
Distinction!). Joined East Berks Windband. Played till I was
16. Gave up - bored of classical music and practicing. Joined
Rotunda Showband in Slough when I was 18 on the basis that
I could borrow a Tenor sax....Bonus! Joined Berks Youth Jazz
Orchestra soon after where I played Tenor (and where I met
Tony). My Nan and Grandad put aside money for me for when
I was 18 - spent it all on my first Tenor Sax (a Yamaha YTS32).
I took up Percussion when i was 25 - had lessons with Hamish
Orr at Drumtech for a couple of years. A year later formed
a band called All Wrapped Up where I play Congas & Sax.
Also now play in a band that play Incognito and Brand New
Heavies covers *wahoo*! ...we're called LiveWire. I was taught
clarinet by a Blues & Royals musician - Tony Whennal,
and had a few sax lessons from Peter Ripper (BBC Radio Big
Band) when I was with BYJO. I tried Flute for a while but
there just arent enough hours in the day - so I sold my flute
to buy a mini dv camcorder 2 years ago!
If you want to hear/see me play,
have a look at the links below... I've gathered recordings
of me playing Tenor, Alto, Soprano saxes and EWI which you
will find in the MP3 section. ...Video is of me playing Tenor
and Congas with All Wrapped Up. Broadband connection is recommended!!
